Our
Mission
|
|
The
Richland Rodeo Team is comprised of high school students from Richland
High School in North Richland Hills, TX. Each member is also
a
member of North Texas High School Rodeo Association. NTHSRA,
a
non-profit organization, is made up of high school students, grades
9-12 throughout North Texas.
Our
Team is advised and sponsored by Celeta Moyer. We compete in
28
rodeos each season, which runs from September to June, with the Finals
Rodeo at the historic Fort Worth Coliseum.
Football
and baseball are great but it takes real courage to compete in rodeo.
One of the most unique aspects of high school rodeo is that
these
athletes compete on the same stock that is used by college and
professional rodeo contestants. Stock that would make most
people
tremble in fear. The cowboy/cowgirl and the stock used in
rodeo
compete against themselves and the clock as much as they compete
against each other.
We are dedicated
to the development of sportmanship and character in the youth of our
country. Our members are
required to
conduct themselves in an exemplary manner, to abide by a strict dress
code when competing, and to "play by the rules". Education is
of
paramount importance, we have a "no pass - no play" rule.
The
school district does not provide any financial assistance to these high
school student athletes or to the team. It is only through
the
efforts of Business Leaders, Parents, Volunteers, and Sponsors that
allow us to continue this athletic activity and financially support a
youth organization that so embodies our Texas Heritage and Traditions.
